Presentation :

Based on unpublished archival documents but also traces on the ground (murgers, low walls, wild vines, toponymy, etc.), this work offers the opportunity to discover the wine-growing past of Talant, a new and fortified town. founded on the heights of Dijon in 1208 by the Duke of Burgundy Eudes III. With 26 hectares of vines, the Talant estate constituted in the Middle Ages one of the four great ducal vineyards producing wines drunk at the court of Burgundy and offered as diplomatic gifts to the great people of the kingdom.
In addition to red wines and white wines, Talantaise production is distinguished by the "galant de Madame", a cooked wine probably flavored with gentian particularly appreciated by Duchess Marguerite of Flanders. If Talant experienced its finest hours under the dynasty of the Valois Dukes (1367-1477), it was in the 19th century that the Talantais vineyard reached its greatest extent, with nearly 190 hectares planted with Gamay in 1830 and 75% of the households who declare themselves winegrowers.
While they could have claimed to become great climats - Clos du Duc became Clos du Roy in 1477 with the attachment of Burgundy to the Kingdom of France - Clos Meunier, Clos Marosse and even Clos Marchand were divided up and abandoned to finally disappear under the houses. Nevertheless, the rediscovery of the ducal cellar in the 1980s, the planting of a first plot on the slope of Combe aux Fées at the end of the 1990s and the replanting of Epoutières vines in 2015 reveal that the Talantais vineyard is in full swing. renewal, like many other urban vineyards.
