His castle has had a lot of wine poured. A setting for receptions renowned throughout the world, the thousand-year-old building with its perfect proportions is today the head of the order of the Brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin. She lives to the rhythm of the vineyard's seasons, which mark her "Chapters, throughout the year. This book lifts the veil on the legends and reality of Clos de Vougeot from its beginnings to the present day.
Small and big stories intertwine to create a story full of twists and turns, which becomes more complex as as the Clos is inexorably fragmented. It also details nearly 70 operators who are lucky enough to have one foot, or even two, in this choice piece of Burgundian wine heritage.


Authors:

Journalist and writer, Jean-François Bazin (1942-2020), Grand Officer of Tastevin, was one of the best connoisseurs of Burgundy wine. Doctor of law, graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies, he chaired the Burgundy Regional Council and was first deputy mayor of Dijon. To this recognized skill, he associated a passion which gave his story incomparable fruit.

Laurent Gotti discovered the world of wine while covering the Hospices de Beaune auction in 1997. He collaborates with several publications: Revue des Vins de France, Guide Hachette des Vins, En Magnum, Sommeliers International, etc. He teaches viticultural geography and tasting to future wine professionals at Inseec and produces plot-specific viticultural maps of the great Burgundian terroirs (Pierre Poupon Collection).
