Presentation:

In the history of all civilizations, women's relationship with wine is based on a number of prescriptions and taboos. Traditional prejudices, superstitions and stereotypes exclude them from wine-making professions and give consumers a dishonorable image. The world of wine has long expressed gender differentiation. The studies carried out in nine European and non-European countries by the co-authors of this work reveal that women have been able to support the evolution of mentalities to free themselves from the weight of the past, from traditional social models and to find a place in the wine world while offering another approach to wine.

In all cultures, women drink wine in an uninhibited manner and whatever their profession - winemaker, cellar master, oenologist, sommelier, salesperson, communicator - they have acquired legitimacy and recognition by redoubling their efforts to prove that They are well in their place. With professionalism, good manners and asserted difference, they contribute to innovate and energize the world of wine and to change the image of women.
From Europe to the Americas via China, wine is today associated with the feminine.
