Presentation:
"If you're expecting this book to be an entertaining little book, skip it (no come back, we're going to laugh a little anyway). Beware, it will sting: the wine world is largely sexist, classist, racist, LGBTphobic and validist. The good news is that we can try to understand what feeds these inequalities to remedy them. With the help of linguists, sociologists, anthropologists, but also the testimonies of professionals and wine lovers, I have explored the language of wine, untangled the complex and often twisted skein that constitutes the vocabulary of wine, and unraveled all the obstacles: misogyny, invisibilization, harassment, glass ceiling, lack of legitimacy... The obstacles are numerous. In this manifesto, I propose other ways of expressing oneself with a glass in hand, more respectful of the diversity of the world of wine. Because language is a tool for emancipation and we have everything to gain by giving meaning back to the words sharing and conviviality." Sandrine Goeyvaerts
