Presentation

“A synthesis of ancient and modern cuisine that highlights the best aspects of ancient Roman gastronomy.”

Sally Grainger 's Roman Recipes for Modern Cooks offers 34 contemporary interpretations of recipes from Latin texts, striking a perfect balance between ancient and modern cuisine. Leaving aside Roman extravagances like dormice, cranes, and flamingos, these recipes are accessible classics: Duck with Turnips, Cheesecake, Salsa Verde with Mullet, Pesto-Stuffed Kidneys, and Roasted Root Vegetables with Cumin and Honey.

Illustrated with historically inspired drawings by award-winning illustrator Joana Avillez , Roman Recipes for Modern Cooks is a unique and enchanting cookbook with a timeless feel.
